Bible Week 06 - WOW!!

Praise God! It's nice to be back home after an absolutely fantatic week camping with the most awesome people on earth! I've got so many testimonies to share but it's getting late and I'm exhausted, but watch this space!

Praise God for a 'Sound' Holiday!

In this last week I've had a fantastic time being on holiday! On Mon and tue I went home and spent some time with my little bro, Sam, and encouraged him with studying for his AS levels. Then Wed to Fri stayed with Reuben Cole in Cardiff. I had an awesome time and was really blessed being in Cardiff. Reuben is the man!! Cardiff is such a beautiful city and the people all seem really nice. The parks are fantastic - perfect for a bit of football (still not as good Manchester though!!!). Whilst I was down there I was majorly blessed meeting Reubes' housemates, and his School of the Word coursemates. All the guys are really cool and if any of you read this thanks for making it an awesome time and making me feel so welcome. I just thought I'd let everyone know how good God is and how much He blessed me in the last week and continues to do so!! Praise God.

The Living Word of God

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)

I love the Word of God!! The bible is fantastic and it's so exciting to read! It's LIFE to me. The word allows me to hear from Jesus everyday. It's the manual for life and tells us the purpose of life. It's fantastic. In the Uk we are so blessed to be able to own a copy and not have to face persecution. I don't know what I'd do without the word. When I don't read it I'm not able to be the man of God He made me to be. "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' " (Matt 4:4)

When I became a Christian God gave me an entirely new nature. Once I was a pessimist but now I am an optimist; once I was greedy but now I am generous; once I was a mocker but not I am an encourager. I love encouraging people, it's an awesome God-given privilege!

At King's church the word 'Amazing' seems to get used a lot so I thought it'd be good to help our encouragement by equipping us with some new encouraging words:

Back from Holy Spirit Weekend

The Holy Spirit weekend away in Llandudno was fantastic!! It was such a beautiful place with hills in every direction. There were about 10 guests from the 3 Alpha courses and about 7 leaders. Everyone got on really well after a crash course in getting know each other through playing Maffia. At least 2 people got saved, including one guy Mark who I was sooo privelliged to pray with. It was the first person that I've prayed with to ask Jesus into their life and I can say nothing on this earth can compare to the fulfillment of seeing a sinner give their life to Jesus. As we prayed his face lit up and he looked so happy, it was totally awesome. Another guy, James, dedicated His life back to God after living his own way and not finding that satisfying. All the other people heard the word of God lots over the weekend and, in faith, were changed for eternity also.

Last night a girl called Kristina, who was on the weekend, was so hungry for more that she asked could she come to the evening meeting at King's, despite being really tired from the weekend. After the meeting she asked me what she had to do to be saved!!! So last night she also gave her life!!

Over this last week I have been so blessed to have been with 4 people who given their lives back to God and are now back in relationship just as God intended. With the 3 people who I'd talked to about becoming a Christian I made sure they received the full Salvation plan, just as God had planned and commands. I exlained they needed repent (ask for forgiveness and turn from their old way of living) and to ask Jesus into their life, confess Him as Lord (to be in charge of their life), be baptised in water (straight away!) and that they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. I also told them about how when you get saved you're added to the church and God's plan is that once people are Christians they need to go and tell others the Good news. Being a christian means far more than God saving us from our sins and making us into a new creation - God wants us to live a life that is a constant witness of what Jesus has done for us.

This week seems like a 'radical' week with seeing 4 people saved etc but this is only the start!! After tasting this I only want to see so much more! At King's church we are believing that in the not so distant future we are going to be a church of 2000 , just as God has said we would (we are ~600 now).

Holy Spirit Weekend

This evening I'm going to the beautiful Llandudno for the Alpha Holy Spirit weekend. I'm really excited about going back to Llandudno because it's a place where we have been a few times as a family and have great memories of.

The thing that I'm most excited about though is the of seeing people saved, baptised in water and in the Holy Spirit - just as Jesus always intended! I realised last night that I've got to prepare for what I expect, by faith, to happen. So if I expect to see people saved I need to be able to show them what the bible says on all these topics. It's good to have faith but if I have faith and don't act on it - ie. I don't prepare for salvation it's faith without actions.. James 2:17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Please pray for Elaine and all the other guests that are coming on the weekend that they meet with the living God and are changed forever. Also pray for me and the other leaders that we can follow the lead of the Holy Spirit.

TODAY is the Day of Salvation

Student Alpha is really exciting at the moment and God's really been speaking to me about Purpose. God is a God of purpose, He never wastes even a single breath. So, this means that we as His body need to be the same. I was encouraged and challenged by Jen's blog and I decided it was time to make an entry!!

I find that it's really helpful to remember that it's not about us so when our evangelism doesn't 'seem' to work out we have to trust God evenmore. It's often easy to worry and get stressed out about not seeing things happening instantly but it's all about God and His Plans and Purpose. Just reading Ecclesiastes. Ecc 3:1 is Awesome and is so important to remember:

"There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven"

But also, in 2 Cor 6:2 it says:

"At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you." Indeed, God is ready to help you right now. Today is the day of salvation.

The Word of God is awesome. God is a wonderful God.
